Central New Jersey

One of three LEED projects we’ve had the opportunity to work on, this home in central NJ, allowed us to utilize plant communities indigenous to the coastal plain. Ceonanthus americanus, Arctostaphylos uvi-ursi, and Clethra alnifolia were integrated into a more ubiquitous planting palette including Itea virginica, Magnolia virginiana, Muhlenbergia capillaris, and Aronia melancocarpa among others to provide pollinator habitat, continuous seasonal interest and to respect the power of place. A large rain garden capturing the entire watershed of the house was also established to allow slow infiltration prior to any overflow discharging into the adjacent woodland and wetland.
